This October, join us for the second annual Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix! Experience the thrill as professional go-kart drivers from across the country go head-to-head on the streets of downtown Lancaster, California at breakneck speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Between professional heats, watch the intense competition as local celebrities and community leaders vie for the coveted title of "BLVD Champ!"
In addition to world-class racing, the weekend-long event also features a street festival, cruise-in car show, live music, and a block party. Held in the heart of downtown Lancaster on the newly revitalized BLVD, the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix is sure to bring fun for the whole family!
Thursday, October 7
The 2010 SOLGP Weekend kicks off on Thursday morning with street closures and track setup. Early Thursday afternoon, the pits will open at 12:00 pm for early driver arrivals.
Friday, October 8
Racing starts early with a media challenge race and live TV and radio broadcasts in the morning. Local and regional media personalities will take to the track to promote the event. At 9:00 am, the pros will join the action with initial practice sessions held throughout the day.
On Friday evening, the street festival will kick off with food and craft vendors, racing exhibits, the "Race Against Polio" Rotary challenge race, driver hospitality and live music.
Saturday, October 9
The roar of the engines will start early as practice sessions conclude and qualifying begins. Opening ceremonies are slated for 10:00 am, followed by the Mayor's Gold Cup race and the competitive VIP BLVD Champ series.
Racing will continue throughout the afternoon with class heat races and two exciting additions: The Kids Kart Race and a Vintage Go-Kart Race. Spectators will be treated to the ongoing street festival, which will include music, children's activities and live entertainment at the main stage. Later, the Classic Car Cruise-in will join the action as over 100 amazing muscle and classic cars cruise to The BLVD. Following the day's races, car show awards will be presented at the main stage. This will be followed by the kick off of the SOLGP block party and a live rock and roll concert.
Sunday, October 10
Sunday will showcase feature races in 11 professional race classes and a VIP race where the community organizations come out and race. The street festival will continue with vendors and displays. Closing ceremonies and SOLGP championship race awards will close out the weekend on the main stage at 4:00 pm. |
